MAGISTRATES COURT of TASMANIA

CORONIAL DIVISION Record of Investigation into Death (Without Inquest) Coroners Act 1995 Coroners Rules 2006 Rule 11 I, Simon Cooper, Coroner, having investigated the death of Rimma Bogdanova Find, pursuant to Section 28(1) of the Coroners Act 1995, that a) The identity of the deceased is Rimma Bogdanova; b) Ms Bogdanova died from injuries sustained as a pedestrian, when struck by a bus as she crossed Wilson Street, Burnie (at the intersection of that street with Cattley Street). As she crossed the street, Ms Bogdanova was favoured by a green pedestrian light. She suffered massive, unsurviable injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the bus was subsequently charged with, and convicted of, causing Ms Bogdanova’s death by negligent driving. An appeal against that conviction was unsuccessful; c) The cause of Ms Bogdanova’s death was multiple injuries including a fractured skull, traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage of the brain and a fractured skull; and d) Ms Bogdanova, a divorced woman born in St Petersburg (then known as Leningrad), Russia on 3 January 1930, died aged 89 years, on 4 January 2020 at Burnie, Tasmania.
