AI-generated summary

Gordon Edward Wright drowned after capsizing his boat at Manns Beach Entrance on 18 November 2009. He became fatigued in the water and was unable to prevent aspiration. The coroner found this death was likely preventable had the deceased worn a life jacket or appropriate flotation device. This case highlights the critical importance of life jacket use in all boating activities, particularly for recreational vessels. Fatigue combined with immersion creates rapid deterioration in swimming ability and consciousness. The coroner's recommendation focused on public education campaigns targeting boating communities resistant to life jacket use, recognising that behaviour change is essential for drowning prevention.
