1, JOHN OLLE, Coroner having investigated the death of ROBERT STRADLING

AND having held an inquest in relation to this death on 7 May 2012

at MELBOURNE

find that the identity of the deceased was ROBERT STRADLING

born on 23 March 1949

and the death occurred on 9 May 2011

at St Augustines Ward, St Vincent’s Hospital, 41 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy, Victoria 3065

in the following circumstances:

Robert Stradling was aged 62 years at the time of his death. He was a prisoner at Port Phillip

Prison.

Post Mortem Medical Examination

  1. Dr Paul Bedford, Forensic Pathologist at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine,

examined the body of Robert Stradling,

  1. In addition, Dr Bedford noted the medical history and the results of the post mortem CT scan

performed at the mortuary:

“Confirms the presence of cerebral metastases and several nodes in the mediastinum

as well as nodules in the left hing, No intracerebral haemorrhage is identified,” * _7, Dr Bedford found the cause of death to be metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, &. Dr Bedford commented:

“There is well documented evidence of spreading cancer from the lung, including

spread to the brain.” *
