INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEATH OF ERIC ALBERT FORD FINDING INTO DEATH WITHOUT INQUEST

I, DARREN J. BRACKEN, Coroner, having commenced an investigation into the death of ERIC ALBERT FORD without holding an inquest:

38 William Street, Stawell, Victoria 3380 The cause of death was:

(la). ISCHAEMIC HEART DISEASE (1b.) PULMONARY SARCOIDOSIS

  1. Mr Eric Ford was 80 years old when on 11 October 2018 he was found dead in bed at the supported residence at which he lived at 36-38 William Street Stawell.

  2. The deceased was, immediately before death, a person placed in custody or care as contemplated by section 52(2)(b) of the Coroners Act 2008, such that pursuant to that section, but subject to section 52(3A) I must hold an Inquest.

  3. On the 18" of February 2019, and after having conducted a medical examination on the deceased, Dr Yeliena Baber, a forensic pathologist practicing at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, provided me with a report that included her opinion that the manner of Mr Ford’s death was natural causes.

  4. During the course of my investigation I identified no other issues which require investigation.

  1. Having been provided with the report referred to in paragraph 3 above I consider that Mr Ford’s death was due to natural causes. Pursuant then to section 52(3A) of the Act, I am not required to, and have determined not to hold an inquest. .

  2. I direct this finding be published on the Coroners Court of Victoria website pursuant to section 73(1B) of the Act 2008.
